Gang of Four’s Dave Allen has been digging through his extensive collection of pre and post-punk vinyl, and he came up with the idea of presenting a series of Podcasts that document the rise of punk and new wave through post-punk. Episode one starts in Akron, Ohio with Pere Ubu, drops in on Iggy and Blondie before moving on to other influencers. Enjoy the first one and then keep coming back for more.

It’s another episode of Best Show/Worst Show wherein Mercury Music Editor Adam Gnade plays local tunes and passes coded messages to his favorite terrorist organizations. (Crytographers get on this one!) This week he spins/plays MP3s from Wet Confetti, Metal’s Aaron Shepherd, …worms, and Show Me The Pink (pictured below).

Amy Sedaris plays Jerri Blank, a 46-year-old ex-junkie whore who goes back to high school in the hilarious television sitcom Strangers with Candy. Recently, she talked about her new film, after-school specials, and Brangelina with our very own (& extremely love-struck) Scott Moore . Listen to them chat it up like two teenagers about to skip gym class to go make out in the boiler room.

Some people might ridicule Maury Povich for his pieces like the segment on this woman and her pickle phobia. But these clips are helpful to people who have their own fears to overcome, like our very own Arts Editor, Chas Bowie. Listen in as he inquires as to whether Maury can help him overcome his personal phobia.
“Captain Riley Demonstrates Levitation (In His Living Room)” by Jeff Riley is pretty self-explanatory. No ropes were used in the filming of this one-minute mind blower.

C’mon we all know Vikings are rad. They have those cool helmets with the horns on ‘em, and drink from human skull goblets. Plus they’re all furry and buff. They’re like a rad crew of bad-ass pirates from the land of Northern ice & snow. It turns out they totally know to rock, too. This week on the ROCK REPORT, Christine S. Blystone introduces us to some of her favorite viking metal bands.

Local electronica/hardcore/metal/grind superstars JonnyX and the Groadies celebrate their 10-year anniversary on July 4th at the Food Hole. Last week our Music Editor, Adam Gnade, chatted ‘em up.

We know you’ve been waiting all week-end to see the film that took the cake and won the GRAND PRIZE at this year’s One-Minute Film Festival. Well, wait no more! This film took home the Best Minute of the Day award. “No One Touches the Floor” by John Bacone uses a simple equation—Swimming + Flying + Time Control = AWESOME!
