Posted by Mercury at 2:46 PM

In his final installment of the Houston hiphop podcasts, Chas Bowie delivers some of H-Town’s dopest new beats. The Houston scene is trying to find its legs after all the media attention of ‘03 and ‘04, and rising stars like Z-Ro, Slim Thug, and Trae are all ascending the ranks of the South’s rap pantheon. Established rappers like Mike Jones, UGK, and Chamillionaire aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, though, so the city boasts an interesting mix of styles and talent all trying to breakout of the regional scene. Dave Allen: Something for the Weekend, A New Music Podcast

Posted by Mercury at 9:00 AM

It’s amazing how many cool music blogs are out there, and more amazing is the amount of cool new music available. A quick perfunctory web surf yesterday threw up a dozen gems, most of which are new, or new to Dave at least. Here’s the playlist:

01. Dr Dog (pictured below) - My Old Ways - from the CD We All Belong
02. Albert Hammond Jr - In Transit - from the CD Yours To Keep
03. Boy Eats Drum Machine - I’m So Stupid - from the upcoming Madonna covers CD
04. Blondie vs The Doors - Rapture Riders - from the CD Mashed
05. Panthers - Thank Me With Your Hands (remix) from the CD The Trick

If you like it, support the bands and labels and buy it.
